Autoflower World Cup review: Best Breeders two years in a row!
As it’s in our backyard, we’ve been to Spannabis if memory serves us correctly (damn you Fugue State!) 11 times now since we two fresh-faced lads attended our first in 2013.
Whilst some faces change, some brands come and go there are many constants and over the years we’ve always managed to meet a cool contact or potential new friend in one way or another. Whether at a stand or in the outside area grabbing a drink and a munch to eat.
Tim & Mitch, excited to get things going at Spannabis 2024!
Two takeaways we always have are that the best business in the event is being done by the food trucks, and usually, the weather gods tend to bless the Friday as the first ‘warm’ day of the year!
Whilst not having had a stand at the event, our job role has mostly been to be the weed fairies and put some nice Mephisto Genetics green goodness into the hands of folks who’ve come from afar and been unable to bring any of their own.
Friday was spent walking and chatting and we met a whole host of cool people, had a nice catch-up reminiscing with Karma Genetics about when he came to our farm, had a quick chat with Sasha a.k.a the Joint Doctor and thanked him personally about the blog article he was featured in, we recommend taking a read of that here. We met James Loud and thanked him for his mentions of us in his new book on Breeding Cannabis. We also met the Cannatrol team in person and, hopefully, we have a unit on the way; Jimbo isn’t the only lucky one amongst the Mephisto Genetics crew, and one of our girls had the pleasure of meeting some of the North Atlantic Seed Company in person! Just some standouts among the many fine people we were able to connect/reconnect with.
On Saturday, there was something else special that we were excited to attend, the 4th Annual Autoflower World Cup took place at the OG Club in Barcelona, and were a very lucky pair of dudes to announce that we were awarded Best Seedbank (Breeder) ‘24 which meant we’ve won that award for two years on the trot! So we have to extend a massive thank you to you guys, our lovely community for voting for us, coming to us, putting your trust in us and enabling us to keep the Mephisto Genetics machine functioning and prospering.
Happy and high, Tim & Mitch stumble their way back through the Barcelona night.
You can also listed to a quick interview we did at the event.
On top of that, we entered some organic Mephisto Genetics flowers into the event and were rewarded with a second place in the Sativa category for a yet-to-be-released strain; ‘Dosidelirium’ (Dosidos #22 - Archive Seedbank) X Fugue State F4. They have a panel of distinguished judges and glad they picked up on how nice this strain-to-be is! Keep your eyes peeled in 2024 for a release date along with a myriad of tasty Dosidelirium hybrids.
Well definitely be planning on attending more events worldwide, and we’re always looking forward to meeting more MephHeads in person from far and wide.
Ending the night in the right way, on a rooftop with our cups and some Do-Si-Delerium.
